I saw an example of Tom’s work on a stand at the Kingsbridge show and was at once impressed by the originality and quality. 

I now have, in my main room, a ‘coffee’ table that I commissioned from him.  I am quite delighted with it.  It is craftsmanship of the highest quality. 

I was also greatly impressed by his readiness to discuss in detail what I needed.  He came to the house, saw the precise location, noted the other furniture in the room and came back with a design which he was to modify a little.  We discussed the best wood and the best texture and colour.  He sent me samples from which to choose. 

When the table arrived (by the promised date) it was precisely what I had wanted.  I cannot recommend his work too highly.

We have been very impressed both with the quality of Tom’s work and with his passion and attention to detail.

He has produced two beautiful tables for us by personally selecting some stunning timber and creating furniture that is not only functional but a piece of art to be proud of.

Tom is a pleasure to work with, and we would not hesitate in recommending him.

Tom is an outstanding craftsman. We travelled 200 miles to see him and it was worth the journey.

He has made 2 beautiful pieces of furniture for us, a dining table and a bookcase. He made sure he understood what we were looking for but offered some excellent suggestions and advice to make sure each piece was perfect.

We needed a new dining table and couldn't find anything in the usual high-end department stores.

In an online search, we came across Orpago and their useful online design tools. Contacting Tom, we were able to fine-tune our table to our exact requirements, even down to samples being posted to us to help us decide on the finish we wanted.

I was looking for oak bespoke table / benches / coffee table for my new home. I found Orpago by trawling through the internet and was immediately impressed by their responsiveness to my questions.

I visited their workshop in Devon – which was a 400 mile round trip and was pleased with everything I saw. Although a fairly small operation, Tom and his team produced an amazing looking table, with benches and a floating beam coffee table in a complimentary style. They really know their craft.

I am delighted with my new furniture and have no hesitation in recommending Orpago for their craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Whilst being given the impossible task of finding new benches and tables for the school's new dining room, I stumbled across Orpago on the web. 

We required non-standard sizes and after speaking with Tom was very soon assured that he was the company to work with.  His workmanship is outstanding and Tom was always available to chat through my concerns and regular amendments. 

The finish product arrived on time and in budget.  The school are very happy and will look to Orpago in the future should we need.

Just taken delivery of our new sideboard to match the table and chairs Tom made for us last year. As usual, the craftsmanship is superb, and it not only looks fantastic, but it makes me want to touch it every time I walk past.

I have no hesitation in recommending Tom and his team - everything worked perfectly and Tom was able to turn our somewhat vague thoughts into exactly what we were looking for.

We live almost 500 miles away so we have never met him and had not seen any of his work so it was certainly a leap of faith based solely on other reviews and our email exchanges, but I can honestly say these are the best purchases we have ever made - they are our family heirlooms of the future.

We wanted a dining table which would be a focal point in our open plan kitchen diner, found Orpago online and went for a chat with Tom at the workshop who helped us every step of the way.

We could not be more delighted with our Clawcross table in Pippy Oak with live edging, would thoroughly recommend to anyone who wants a quality product and proper British craftsmanship.

We first saw Orpago tables at the Bath and West show in June 2016 and fell in love with them.  I returned to their pitch at least 3 times on the day and brought along all my friends who were also at the show, who all loved Tom’s display of furniture. 

At the time we lived in an old cottage and didn’t have enough space for a substantial dining table, so we had to wait until we moved into a bigger house, which we now have.  We wanted a dining table to complement our contemporary kitchen/dining room, so it was an easy decision to get in contact with Tom to commission a piece. 

By way of e-mails during Covid, we were able to refine our choice, but then travelled down to Devon – during a break in lockdown restrictions - to talk through our options with Tom at his workshop.

He was able to provide excellent and informed advice, and we are now in possession of a beautiful pippy oak table which is the envy of all our friends and exactly what we wanted and needed. 

It goes without saying that the level of craftsmanship is of the highest level, but the time and patience Tom displayed throughout the process of commissioning the table was inspiring. Thank you.

We were searching to find someone to work with to design and build some bespoke oak furniture for our old farmhouse refurbishment project including a very large bed, a dining table, dining chairs and two smaller coffee and corner tables.

After trawling through endless websites, I eventually found Orpago and instantly liked the look of the furniture and the feel of how it was presented – it seemed to me to be very well considered, striking just the right balance between set-piece craftsmanship, commercial affordability and, most importantly for us, the furniture seemed to capture exactly the right balance between modern and classic / traditional. Exactly what we were looking for in fact (I love old buildings but am at heart a fussy modern architect and unhealthily obsessed with fine craftsmanship and detail).

We quickly struck up a very positive dialogue with Tom, exchanging emails, sketches and associated budget costings. Tom dealt admirably with our endless minor tweaks and revisions and went to a huge amount of trouble to produce some great 3d CGI images during this preliminary phase and I really enjoyed this part, I must say. Being such a fussy architect client I thought he showed remarkable patience!

We actually only met Tom for the first time on the day he delivered our first batch of furniture and found him to be every bit as good a bloke as he seemed to be in his emails – the furniture is absolutely excellent, as I knew it would be, and I would have no hesitation in recommending him to others and indeed frequently do!

We first contacted Thomas when we needed a large table for a house we were renovating; we were living in China at the time, always a challenge organising things like this without physically seeing work produced. We knew or thought we knew the dimensions, and after taking advice from Thomas about the balance and look of the table and what we were trying to achieve, we decided on a slightly different design.

This was a big investment, being so far away made all the more difficult. Thomas said "I'll make it anyway as I need a showpiece, but I know you will love it". 

The table was stunning, more a piece of art than a table, beautifully made, the care, attention to detail and passion that is Thomas, running through every part of it. We now have several pieces of furniture made by Thomas, including bespoke, and our living room is a gallery to his work. Stunning service and superb furniture.

We are delighted with the desk which Tom Dorich at Orpago made for us. From the initial design, where Tom's advice was invaluable, through to the delivery of the finished item Tom has been unfailingly helpful.

You never know what to expect when you commission a bespoke piece of furniture remotely, based only on conversations and images gleaned from the website.

We spent several weeks working with Tom to come up with a design that fitted the space we had available, and that would give the room a fresh look.

The quality of the workmanship, and the attention to detail, combined with the use of beautiful English hardwoods, has produced a stunning piece of furniture.

I have recently started working with Tom at Orpago and have found him to be a great contact; an inspiring and thoughtful designer and a very good manufacturer of his product and finishing.  He understands wood, listens carefully to the brief and provides a good service, all with a smile and a gentle reassuring manner.

He recently supplied a client of mine with a very large round oak table which extends with two leaves to make a large oval table, which is perfectly balanced and doesn’t tilt, even when fully extended.  The centre pedestal was a bespoke design, hashed out between the two of us, and we were all one hundred percent pleased with the outcome.  Chairs and stools were also made to suit the table, which made the whole project a total success.

We are working together again now on a different brief, for a different client, and I very much hope that this working relationship will build and continue for the future.

We found the Orpago website (and with it Tom) somewhat by accident but what a find! Tom could not have been more helpful in discussing and advising on the design of our table, and when we wanted to see it in the flesh Tom was very happy to show us round his workshop and showroom. 

The 200-mile trip was more than worth it, and we were impressed by Tom’s approach and expert craftsmanship.

It was a pleasure to do business with Tom Dorich of Orpago. Based near Kingsbridge, this is a bespoke service. I wanted a table modelled on a Westmoreland farmhouse kitchen table for my house in Devon. 

We discussed style, wood and finish. Plans were received promptly. Then COVID set in, so progress was slower, particularly as I could not travel to Devon. However, it is now installed and looks great in the room with a wonderful finish.
